Mexican painter Frida Kahlo
I have always admired Frida Kahlo’s work, but admit I knew very little about her life and art other than her beautiful recognizable face. So I decided to join the event at
Sewing On My Kitchen Table to celebrate her birthday by making something that captures the style and spirit of Frida Kahlo.
I began by finding a image and a thought provoking quote I liked to create a journal page. I traced the image on fabric and filled in with colored pencils.
Her thick eyebrows were her trademark
She wore elaborate hairdos with braids and flowers.
She painted self-portraits surrounded by her pets
Now these cat-eyed glasses above are what Frida wore, but I believe she could Rock these heart -shaped glasses that I embellished.
Dia de Muertos---- Spanish for Day of the Dead a Mexican holiday that celebrates family and friends who have died. I think this cuff braclet I made would also be a part of her wardrobe.

Have a great week.
Peace, love, and art,
